Doppelganger Danger: Blue Moon Investigations Sacramento Kindle Edition
Investigate a murderous ghost, do battle with a shapeshifting demon, get ready for a date … it’s all in a day’s work for Sacramento’s only paranormal detective.
The ghost of a man’s wife come to avenge her untimely death, a woman caught on camera stealing drugs from work when she wasn’t even in town, and a family with a secret no one can ever know.
When August Watson takes on all three cases at the same time, it’s not because he is short of work, but due to the worrying connection between them – they all point to impossible doubles.
Is there a shapeshifting doppelganger at work? It seems like the only explanation for the craziness ensuing, but as he gets closer to the truth, the long-hidden lies he disturbs come with a price.
His own life.
In a race to stop more deaths, August Watson will risk it all.
If only work was his biggest worry.

About the authors
Alex Gates writes fantasy, mystery, and suspense stories, often weaving elements inspired by his eclectic taste in books and films—from horror flicks to romantic comedies. Born and raised in Northern California, Alex spends his days with his incredible wife, their two energetic kids, and an adorable golden doodle. When not immersed in writing, Alex loves reading, traveling, and listening to country music.
When Steve Higgs wrote his debut novel, Paranormal Nonsense, he was a captain in the British Army. He would like to pretend that he had one of those careers that must be blacked out and generally denied by the government, and that he has to change his name and move constantly because he is still on the watch list in several countries. In truth, though, he started out as a mechanic - not like Jason Statham in the film by that name, sneaking around as a hitman, but more like one of those sleazy guys who charges a fortune and keeps your car for a week even though the only thing you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, he was largely disinterested in all subjects except creative writing, for which he won his first prize at the age of ten. However, calling it the first prize he won suggests that there were other prizes, which is not the case. Awards may yet come, but in the meantime, he enjoys writing mystery and thriller novels and claims to have more than a hundred books forming a restless queue in his mind because they are desperate to be written.
Now retired from the military, he lives in southeast England with a duo of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, he doubts he'll ever leave, the beer is just too good.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2023A modern Scooby doo Type of novel. This book has the right blend of characters, story lines, seriousness and at times silliness offsetting tragedies. it reminds me of characters like Fletch and Leo Waterman and countless others. A fast paced mystery that kept me hooked and I an looking forward to the next installment. I never would have expected the tragic mysteries encountered while debunking paranormal phenomenon.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2023What a wonderful story! I absolutely love, love, love this story!! It's really hard to think about how much crime and other bad things go down around us every day! I wouldn't actually want to meet up with the dangers these sleuths see all the time! I also can't wait to begin the next story in this series!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2024I have been reading Steve Higgs books nonstop since discovering the Patricia series. I got hooked completely again by the original Blue Moon series. I also read a couple of the off shoot series and then this one. I was mistaken in my book one review when I said I gave book 1 4 stars… because I was actually reviewing book 1. The reason I goofed was it sort of felt like 2 books. I was not real fond of August in the first half of the book but as the character developed he became 5 stars, as did the rest of the characters.
Book 2 is also a full 5 stars. Plot, characters, timing, all awesome! This feels so Blue Moon!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2023A good read and keeps you wondering if any cases are really going to be solved or just slip into oblivion. The ins and outs of three cases at the same time keep you wondering!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2023Good character development, like the way Alex creates interesting camaraderie and most of all creates individuals you can relate to an many levels and care about. Love Steve Higgs books but this one has more depth to it. So great collaboration with Alex Gates. Hope there are a lot more!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2023Higgs and Gates are taking their time to build characters and develop the Universe. Somewhat confusing at times because of intertwined stories but the twist at the end is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another world from Steve Higgs
More characters to enjoy but with greater depth even then the original Higgs Blue Moon Investigations perhaps? Is that thanks to Alex Gates? Still some fun but perhaps a little darker too, will be curious to see how these characters in this world grow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doppelgänger Danger Blue Moon investigations
Stay with the introduction of the characters ,and on into the investigation set up and you will be unable to discontinue reading this book . It is an excellent read. It is an enthralling enigmatic story that had my focused attention to the end .Although for me personally not the end I would like to read more of the Blue Moon investigation Series . That experience of enjoying a book that you have reached the end of and now have to wonder if you can find something else as enthralling that is the experience of reading this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great fun book 2 in series
Great fun, bond between characters develops, August trying to disprove paranormal or strange crimes. 3 crimes, with 3 different back stories, all different but similar. A bit of dating on the side with amusing results.
